A message from Karen and Linda

| 30/03/2020

Life has changed so much for us all in the last few weeks.

Keeping ourselves and our families safe and well is our absolute priority as this COVID-19 pandemic runs its course.

Understandably, we have postponed all County events and trainings that were due to take place in the next 3 months. The County Website will show details of new dates as soon as we can

For some, there may be more time to give to guiding and we have been watching as many of you think of imaginative ways to ensure girls still have access to the Girlguiding programme.

For others, the world has changed and the time you used to have for volunteering has had to be re prioritised.

Many will fall somewhere in-between but please know, we only promised to do our best.

None of us have more than 24 hours in our day. Use your hours in the ways that are important to you. If there is still room for girlguiding that would be amazing but if not possible for you at this time then perfectly understandable. These are unprecedented times.

For girls,  a couple of quick, simple actions could be;

  • share social media links to Girlguiding UK and Girlguiding Cheshire Border

For those of you able to give more time, please share your ideas on the Cheshire Border Facebook Page and send to webeditor@girlguidingcheshireborder.org.uk.

If you are holding virtual meetings, please ensure you have read https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/what-we-do/adventures-at-home/getting-started-with-online-guiding/. I would also advise against live streaming – you never know what might happen unexpectedly!

If you are doing your LQ and can’t see your mentor virtually , Julia McCoy can put you in touch with someone to chat through any elements, contact her at leadership@girlguidingcheshireborder.org.uk.

Finally, you may have a chance to complete your Safe Space Level 1 and 2 on line https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/making-guiding-happen/learning-and-development/a-safe-space-training/

Whatever your situation, Girlguiding is still here for you in whatever capacity you need it to be.

Keep in touch and keep safe and well
