Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs were wondering if any units that are holding virtual meetings, would be interested in a virtual talk from one of their speakers? Many of their speakers are guide dog owners, puppy walkers, dog re-homers and dog carers so they have lots of knowledge about what they do. They even have a litter of puppies in the nest who have been making their debut over Zoom!

They help people with sight loss live actively, independently and well by providing a range of services, not just the cherished guide dogs. One of their lesser known services is CustomEyes books, produces large print books for children with sight loss. The children from the Meteor-eyes club can tell you what they love about this service here.

The talks usually generate lots of questions and it would of course be fantastic if any of your units chose us as their charity if they are working towards their Charities badge. They also have a group fundraising challenge called the Puppy Graduation Scheme if a Pack or a Six can work together for their badges.

They also have some learning resources which may be useful for your leaders. They can be found on their website by following this link, resources.

Please get in touch if you would like a talk. You can request one of our talks by completing the form here. If you have any queries, please email us at speakers@guidedogs.org.uk.
